Damage Control

The exit of Greg Lake from Emerson, Lake and Palmer has fallen on deaf ears in the music community. ELP has long been disregarded as a serious musical entity. The sad advice to stay on the road, re-hashing old anthems to a handful of fans is like seeing Bobby Vinton with synthesizers and stage props. It brings back the memories, but does nothing to further the careers of three talented musicians.

Keith claims that he has some exciting things coming in 1999. He claimed that his website would bring updated material and information regarding him and ELP, but we all know what happened there. Having once been Keith's official and authorized webmaster, I know that things happen only when Keith is interested, and his interests change focus like the wind. Such is genius.

The most interesting thing regarding Keith to happen this year is the bogus interview that was offered to the progrock usenet group. I have received e-mail indicating that I was the author of that hoax. Nothing could be further from the truth. The faux interview lacked any creativity at all, and was stupid. I knew from the third question that this wasn't a real interview.

Close to Home is here because it is the most visited Keith Emerson site on the internet. It's not going away, no matter how much Keith and his 'advisors' would like it to. Keith has threatened legal action to remove Close to Home from the Internet. Why? We believe it is because the fact that his people cannot get it together and deliver him a cohesive, well designed site is embarassing to all in his camp. His authorized site was a good try, but how can we perceive it as a viable site when as of today, Feb. 27, it still says 'Happy New Year'? It's like the craphouse on the street that still has it's Christmas Lights up. It shows that the family living there is lazy. Keith deserves better than this. If his own authorized site is not to be perceived as an indication of him as a person, and of the current state of his career, then simply update it. This is not only our opinion, as we get e-mail everyday from fans. We receive e-mail from Botswana, Hungary, Mexico, etc...all asking what Keith will do, and how to contact him. Over 300 people continue to hit on the site, whether to play the interactive Toccata synth drums, to read the autobiography Keith created especially for Close to Home, etc. We will continue to provide inside information (yeah, we got some cool friggin' tidbits), and some cool new links to midi files and transcripts. Check back with us often, and send us e-mail.

We have not:

Commandeered Will Alexanders e-mail account and sent out notices that he was now working for Rick Wakeman (now that was funny!).

Tried to have cybersex with the broad that did Keith's Christmas Album CD cover.

Rip-off the Quake logo for the new Emerson logo.

Released Keith's parrot Smokey while he was away in England. Happily Smokey was found safe and sound by some neighborhood kids.

Filed a bogus interview with Keith in the progrock usenet group.
